Before You Start

Every tutorial assumes a printed sheet at a known, accurate scale, which is worth a minute of setup: a plan drawn at "roughly" one square to a foot is not a plan. Print from the generator with scaling turned off, then measure a square with a ruler to confirm it came out the size you asked for. Scale drawing projects -- rooms, gardens, furniture -- go easiest on a grid whose spacing divides neatly into your unit of measure. Choosing the right grid size works through that, and for anything three-dimensional the woodworking plans post shows the same discipline applied to a build.
